August is a very special month in Baja California especially in the wine valleys from Ensenada. In this warm month the vineyards begin with the harvest activities to produce their delicious wine, that is why during this season the “Harvest Festival” is organized, which is a celebration to thank the land for the production in the year. The origin of this festival is from the ancient Greece where celebrations were held in reverence to Dionysus, the god of wine.
The first edition in Ensenada was organized with just 10 events but due the wine culture grew in the state and Mexico now in its 21st edition, it counts with more of 40 events. From August 5th – 21st this year the festival started with the event “Muestra del Vino” at the Social, Civic and Cultural Center Riviera where the winemakers showed to more of 2000 people what they consider their best wine. On this festival the winemakers offer a wide variety of activities like dinners, wine tasting, concerts, and so on where the taste of good wine and good food is present. On music concerts we have performers like Ely Guerra, Maria Jose, Noel Schajris, among others.
If what you wish is to learn or to know more about the wine culture this is the perfect season to do it. We invite you to visit Ensenada and enjoy all that offers. (events)
